texas drought

as much as i love the state of texas. i'm tired of the droughts, about the time we get back to normal/sufficient rainfall another drought starts and they seem to be longer, more servere and more often.
this year the heat has been extreme, 110-115 everyday for weeks now and no chance of relief or rain in the forecast.
i've had thoughts of selling out and moving.
anybody else feel the same ?
where would you go ?

i've spent some time in kansas and if could learn to handle the cold weather the flint hills might work.

Doggona Cross...you're the one that settled in West Texas. You can move over to East Texas, get the same heat and drought but at least from time to time you'll have hellish humidity. :lol2:

Yeah I got tired of it too-- back in the mid 80's it was dry, hot, humid, horrific... Leased the whole place never to return-- best move I ever made.
West of the Balcones you might as well be in the wind mill business or Boer Goats.
The Piney woods country/ big thicket/ better known as WTH or East Texas wasn't an option for me.

I didn't like those backward Aggies, the liberals in east Texas (I-45 Corridor), sawmills, logging trucks, sweet tea, chiggers, ticks, gnats, flies, grain fed women, dog hunters hunting WTD over a 5ft pile of corn or over their truck hood just didnt seem sporting, I wasnt ever going to attend the Prison Rodeo at Huntsville, a NASCAR event, a Snipe Hunt, a midnight coon hunt, and I wasn't gonna hang out with the SHSU crowd, the SFA crowd, or the TAMU crowd drinking Lonestar at the "Shickin".

There is some good land elsewhere to be had relatively cheap with a lower cost of living than some places in Texas. Texas will be back-- again someday -- My great Uncle, who is 92 years old and seen some changes in Texas; since his birth in 1920; told me in the mid 80's that Texas was going dry and it might be time for a change.

And ya can always go back to Texas.

NC is just a suburb of NY and Mexico
very few natives left to keep things sane :)

I don't know about the cities economies--- but Agriculture is drying up FAST

heard the 6666 (15 miles up the road) ranch is shipping 5000 head to nebraska. when the big boys like them(400 sections) run short on grass i know i aint got a chance of making it.
