After being interviewed by the school administration, the teaching prospect said, "Let me see if I've got this right:

You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor their T-shirt messages, and instill in them a love for learning.

You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs
and sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self esteem and personal pride. You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a checkbook, and apply for a job. You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behavior, and make sure that they all pass the state exams.

You want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps, and communicate regularly with their parents by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card. You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board, a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps. You want me to do all this and then you tell me...

I remember praying in school, then one day we were told we wouldn't do it anymore. I remember how I felt that day about it and just didn't think it was right and I was a young'un. My teacher was upset by it also.

Why it is that you can have a majority of people for something and a few against and the few win? Not right.

We never prayed but we did have the Pledge of Allegiance, which they have just about done away with as well.

I whole heartedly agree with you on this one, why is it that foreign nationals as they so call them come into our Countries, and then dictate that we can't pray to our GOD whom we have been praying to for years, because it ofends them. If they don't like it get out. They know before they come that our schools used to pray, stay away or have a section so as they can pray to their god and us ours. bring back Religious assembly in the mornings and at the end of the day and some order may get back into out kids lives. also untie the hands of the Head Teachers and Police in the disapline area and that might help also.

For the most part it's not people from the outside trying to stop prayer in school, it's secular progressives who are born and bred in America. Go to just about any other country and you will still see prayer in schools, some in our country just have too much time on their hands and want to meddle with things.
