got a 10 wheel rake that cant get to rake thick hay without pileing up where the back wheels run together .have taken front wheels off thinking it would make row smaller and does help some but them windrow is too wide.......anyone else had this problem....thanks
 
I'm not familiar Sytrex, but does it not have adjustment to set the angle the wheels run at? On my Kuhn SR110 you bringing the front rake wheels closer together (left and right sides) and it will gather hay from a narrower area, but leave a wider windrow. Spread them further apart and they will bring in more hay and leave a narrower windrow.
 
Yep. Perhaps an adjustment is all thats needed. But then ya may run into the problem of the baler possibly not having a wide enough pickup area. (Windrow too wide)

We've done some putting together of 2 windrows and fought that issue. Discovered it was easier to open it up in the rear and keep moving. Then go back along and turn the edge of the windrow with one rake up, to narrow the newly combined windrow. Thick hay can be a problem raking.
 
My Pequea has the ability to adjust windrow width and overall width separately. Open the back up to 6' or so for the baler and set the front to pull in 2 windrows.
 
We have an older Durabilt, it’s bad to do the same thing if the hay is still too green/wet or too dry/ light . I’ve said some words at it that I had to ask the Lord for forgiveness. I priced a newer model that is supposed to be the best made . Just can’t see selling 20 + calves for a rake ! 🤠

are you checking the hay for moisture content, if it's a littledamp our vermeer will do the same thing. When it does that on us we tedder it once more and let it dry out more and rerake it and bale
 
watch it through the thick spots and if it starts to plug raise the rake wings up slightly and it will usually go through.
