Synchronizing heifers?

I want to synchronize some heifers so that I can put them with my neighbors bull and have them come in at exactly the time I need them to. He wants me to leave them with his for about a week so I have a tight time span. How do y'all use lutalyse, as far as when you inject them and when the second one needs to be injected? Also when can I expect them to come in after the second shot
 
how many? you give them a shot of lute then they will come in 2 1/2 days to 7 days after but unless you kinow for sure there not responding you dont give them another shot. but if you know they havent you can give another shot 10 days after. If its several be careful not to overwork the bull. you may want to patch them or paint the tails or something to know if theve been bred.
 
First ? I have, how many heifers? If its several and only 1 bull, might not work the greatest, a bull can only service so many if they all come into heat at once. With AI this is not a prob. when syncing (if you got a strong arm anyway :) )

When do you want to do this, now or in a couple months? I would watch for heats now and mark it on a calender. Track their cycles, should be about every eighteen days for a heifer. You may get lucky and have a couple cycle naturally in the time frame you need.
 
If I rent a bull then I'm not worried about when they are coming in but I might take my heifers to my neighbors bull but he only wants them there for about a week . I've been watching and I think 3 of them are within a few days of each other and the 4th is close like within 7 days. If I take them to the neighbors I'm going to do it around the may 30th, but if I rent I will get him on march the 9th.

Is it the availability of the different bulls? thats a big spread youd go from calving around Dec 15th to around Mar 7th. How old are the heifers? If there old enough id rent the bull make sure there bred and try and back them up a little next year or a bit later depending if you want spring or fall calves.
 
They are plenty big to breed now. I am ready to go ahead and get them bred. My neighbor is one of those people who have these "big ideas" all the time. He won't let me use his bull until may 30th because thats when he puts his bull with his cows and he's "right".
 
AI them if you have a tech in your area. It will be cheaper in the long run, plus you can have it done when you want.
 
He is right - A good neighbor would let you keep him till may 30th.
I have a neighbor that has 1 of my bulls 6 months because i did not need him yet.
