My Post Rock Silver daughter (heifer) is starting to get very close to calving. She is really a looker. I am getting excited, and a bit nervous, about her calving. I am keeping an eye on her just in case. I hope all goes well and she has a heifer calf :D

You just guaranteed yourself it will be a bull calf.... ;-)

Now you are starting to sound like me. I got some heifers due in march and I am already starting the worry process. :D

I would have swore that she was going to have it last night. I checked on her at 10:00 pm and she was licking at her sides and rocking that half step forward and back like they do when starting labor. This morning she was out there grazing. No signs of birthing. Her bag is so full her teats are almost turned out parallel to the ground and she is as loose as a goose in the rear. Maybe she was waiting on the rain to move in just to make me worry more

quit watching her and she will have it. or just tape a baby monitor around her neck so you can hear when she starts grunting.

Ya sure she didn't have it last night and has it hidden out somewhere?
:D

I don't think so gb........but I have been wrong before. She doesn't look like she has given birth in any category. I will be checking out the woods this evening. Usually they will pitch a fit if I go into the woods and they have a calf hidden in there.

Suspense is over. My Post Rock Silver heifer had her calf unassisted about 8:00 tonight. I checked on her at 9:30 and it was up and very active. Couldn't tell what it's sex was. I'll weigh it and check in the morning. I am guestimating it to be roughly 70 lbs so maybe the light weight indicates a heifer calf....I hope.

HAHA, that's how it ALWAYS works for me.
But perhaps she would make a top notch bull for you HOSS.

My brother's cow Eve is due at Thanksgiving... I am hotly anticipating the birth of this one and I'm really hoping for a bull this time.
She's given us 3 nice heifers so far, but I'm convinced she's unable to bear a male offspring.

I hope all goes well for you and you have a beauty of a calf!!

Real super foggy this morning so I did not find until the last minute before I had to leave for work. I am almost positive it is a heifer calf. She may fool me on weight. She is just about as thick as she is long. Looks like a small bear cub  I'll get her weighed when I get home.

Hope is what you wanted!!
I was wanting a heifer. I am growing my registered herd so heifers are on the wanted list right now. I have had all heifers with the exception of one bull this year out of my registered herd so the voodoo potion I put in their feed must be working pretty well

Pic of fuzzy wuzzy taken about 2:30 this afternoon. She weighed 76 lbs. Look like she will have some bone on her.
