After reading these threads for a long time now, I have found that almost everyone controls the amount of protein fed. I have left a lick tub in front of my cattle for the last 2 years.
I have never had a cow that I have had to pull a calf from. I never buy unproven first time heifers. The body condition scores are from 4 to 7 depending on age, dry or with calf, or how old is the calf, etc. I keep it in front of them to determine the quailty of forage they are getting and keep them in good shape. I guess I am lucky as the use very little of it.
So my question is, Am I doing some unknown harm that I don,t know about?
