we have done them both.. Well, we have done a Sudex and we haved done Pearl and foxtail millets.. The sudex did fine on sandy soil as long as you got some rain. It stats off better than the Millets do. But the millet did shine a bit over the sudex on the nolls in the fields.
Still not sure what to think of what the foxtail did that year as when we planted barley in April in those fields we had some annual rye grass mixed in per an agronomists recomendation.. Well, some places the millet didn't come up very well but in its pace was really thick stands of rye in the fall.. Now, was this because of the lack of millet growth or was the lack of millet growth becasue the rye chocked it out in late June when we planted.. I don't know... That year the day we removed the barley and put the fertilzer down we got 2.5 inches of rain.. Litterly baled the last 10 bales as the rain was starting.. Had to feed those early, including the last bale that had to weigh 4000 pounds.. Suprised the custom guy didn't break his baler on that one, lol.
