Well, we had an auction on Saturday. It was just an equipment auction, with equipment that needed to be sold that were Dad's and Grandpa's, plus some other miscelaneous items that needed to go. Most everything sold, except for a few small items like an old stove and some benches, and went for a good price that we were expecting to go at, except for our baler, the haybine, and the little 844. There were over 300 people there, and about just as many registered bidders. And thank god the weather turned out great!
 
i know that had tobe a hard tiring day for you an your family.i cant dream of selling equipment anytime.
 
I like to think I know numbers of equipment better than most people,so it's killing me.Is an 844 a european case ih?

im the same way i used to could look at any make of tractor an tell you the HP.but with all these fancy new #s i cant do that anymore.
 
The 844 is just a number identification for our little International tractor, not Case IH, since this tractor was bought before the merge of Case and International. I can't remember what the HP was on that tractor. But that's one tractor, along with the CaseIH 7240 that will be missed.

It was a bit hard to see everything go, especially for Mom. But I guess it's just a kind of second closure, and some how a way of starting up again, like starting on a new page or new chapter. Of course the whole family was there, including my brother's family, more as support than anything.

Back in my auction days, we used to recommend to the sellers to leave on a short day trip during the auction, to spare them the sight of selling everything. It's hard on most people to see everything go. But your right in that it does feel like a fresh start afterward and it can totally change a person's personality for the better.
 
ive sold out twice in my life.an for both cow sales i sat an watched them go through the ring.
 
yeah but times i knew id be back into cattle.the last time i sold out i was in the dumps for 5yrs.then i got in reg beefmasters.
