When using CIDRs and Lute on beef cows - - what preg rate should you expect when synced 6 vs. 10 weeks after calving ?
If cows do not cycle in this system - - -does that tell you something about their overall fertility?

Are you just using Lute, or gnrh as well? Witch protocol do you want to use? Sometimes the extra hormone helps tip the scales. If they are in good condition we(BPS@Genex) have had as high as 80% in some herds, normal would be 50-65%. Maybe Cowpollinator will step in, he has more experience with this than I do.

Not cycling according to protocol with cidrs happens. I don't think it has much to do with fertility, just caught them at the wrong point in their natural cycle. You can't fool Mother Nature all the time.

If you use CIDR & lute for two years in a row - - do you end up with over 75% (>50% in year one + 50% of 50% year in year two) of the cows CALVING in the first 30 days, or do some of the ones syned the first year drop back again?

A cidr "should" work everytime, trying to figure the protocol out for that particular animal is the problem. I pulled a cidr (7 days +gave Lute)on a heifer last Friday, she still has not come into heat. It happens more than you think.

Some cows may drop back, but you should maintain the average although nothing's perfect. Also, I've seen herds do better than 50-60% conception.
