Subject, and where it belongs

Help Support CattleToday:

I figure questions that any beginner might ask belongs here. My neighbor could answer any of the questions I might ask here but, there are a couple of problems with asking him. #1. I don't want him to think I'm stupid. Ya'll don't know me so I don't care as much. After all he is my neighbor. #2. I'll get more than one opinion or answer here. #3. If he gives me an answer I don't like, I don't want to upset him by not taking it. My point is any question I'm gonna ask on this forum that might be dumb I figure belongs here. I'm a beginner. This is the beginners board. Seems pretty simple to me.

I have stated before that I do not beleive that there are any dumb questions, that there are only dumb people that do not ask them. I never intended for this to include beginners. I admit I should have stated that in my my original statement I apologise for that. As far as people thinking anyone is stupid is there own problem in trying to deal with their own intelect, or lack thereof. This is the beginners board, so this is where you should be. It is up to you to determine when you no longer are.
As far as asking your neighbor and then checking it out I more than agree with. I personaly have found many things that I thought I new I was totaly wrong about. But keep on asking your neighbor questions, It is actually a way of paying him respect. Just don,t do it untill he thinks your a pain in the a--.
Thank you

Nova, Its no big deal. We'd probably read the posts no matter if they were in the right categories or not.

No one knows it all. But we have some very wise old owls in our midst.

The only detriment I see is if someone is searching for an answer in the threads and the question is answered in another category.

Why is beginners board mis-used?

Doesn,t fert. belong under grass and hay?
Doesn,t mineral belong under health?
Stupid propably belongs here.
Can people still read?

Maybe because some are so eager to ask questions, they dont know where to BEGIN

And thats why Im voting for Crowder

With everything else in the world to worry about, I find this concern way down low on the list.

You are correct as are the people that are beginners.

Some people post here because they think what they have to say would be most important to beginners.
Before I was a beginner I found these boards by accident. Judgeing by their posts, others found this site the same way. When I found them I never went to the beginners board. I looked under the subject headings for the info. I was concerned about. When I finally joined the forum I went to the beginers board thinking it would lead me to how to use the rest of the boards. I was totaly amazed at all the great info. that was hidden away. One only needs to look down at the bottom of the question and answer page to see that many more people visit these boards that are actually not members than that are. So when people hide their great informative threads where visitors do not see them it really limits the amount of info. others could be getting. I believe that beginners can read and find the posts under the correct heading. Maybe many of you don't.

Another point I would like to make is that the people that developed this site went through a great deal of effort to put this togrther for us. They gave us several catagories to chose from, so if they intended for everything to go under beginners board why did they put out so much effort giveing us subjects to choose from.

I will offer no apology for bringing this up because I do feel like it should be far from the bottom of the list.

I will apoligise for the way I did it, there are more diplomatic ways.

Novatech, thank you for taking the time to explain. I've read many of your posts and you have never struck me as being petty, so I was very surprised when I read this post. I'm glad to know my initial impression was correct. :)

Novatech, if it makes you feel better or not; I understood what you were saying in your original post.

I think people are wound a little tighter with some of the inflamatory post that have been going on lately and read more into things than was intended by the poster.

Your are absolutly right. As a member of the boards I read a lot of the posts, especialy the beginners board. That is because I now know there are a lot of good questions there that lead to a lot of great information. Before I joined I was not aware of this, so I lost out on a lot of that good info.

It is kind of like my shop. I never put things back up where they belong. I can always find them because I know where I left them. If anyone else goes in looking for something they may find it, but it will certainly take them a lot longer. If they can find it at all.

How can one find what the "wise old owls have to say"? Just look at the number of posts this weekend alone. It's starting to look like my shop and it scares most people to go there.
