Wow just wanted to say we are praying for all those effected by the tornado outbreak in Alabama and Georgia. Ronnie is a member of Florida Baptist Disaster relief and he has already been called out to help. He will be leaving with a crew from Hillcrest Baptist Church. They don't know where they will be sent as yet.

We almost never have a tornado, I have never seen one but 1 went 15 miles north of us and 3 have went 30-40 miles south of us in the last 3 hours. We got some good rain though.
 
The wind has been blowing hard here all day, but all the really bad stuff is going north of us. And they are getting slammed. Tornadoes scare me we deal with Hurricanes in our area but there is time to prepare for a hurricane.

Its just now getting to us but I think the worst of it is going to be far north of us. Wind is strong and I'll probably get to cut some more firewood. Looks like north Alabama and north Georgia got it bad. Bad enough probably for those folks in New Orleans to start looting again.
 
My mom and a co-worker of hers are going to N AL to shoot pics and video this morning. I know a couple of families who lost everything, and one of my former students was injured in Tuscaloosa but will be fine. Scary stories coming this morning.

How will the damage and death done by tornadoes in April in the South compare to Katrina in New Orleans where Bush got raked over the coals , Bush would be on the ground walking amoung the damage , I have not seen any comments from the man in their now. Looks like a good place to put some of the stimulus money . If this happened in Chicago he would be all over the place offering help.
 
it's bad,,, left here yesterday to get home before the second round hit... never seen nothing like this, bout as scarey a situation weather wise as we've been in..took the 4 wheeler down to the bottom to run the cows back up..parked it in front of the barn went to check the weather ,,, sirens go off.... come back and see pieces of someones home raining down in the pastures , coming from hundreds of feet up,,,, no power and may not be for days.. dont know the death toll yet ive heard so many stories suppose to be around 130 dead 66 tornados ...
 
their directing traffic to the service stations probably won't be any gas left here by lunch the town i work in is about the only area with power... but it also home to the power company Sandmountains a mess Cullman , Arab hit hard ... as for as my damage none...thank GOD

Good to see some of you from the hard hit areas on here posting.I have stood looking at the tv at the utter devastation and horror of loss of life the storms have created.It certainly brings home the fact of how small man is in the face of nature and how precious life really is.

Thinking of all you folks and praying for you too.
 
glad you made it thru Bama they showed a map of all the tornadoes on the news this morning looked like Alabama and georgia was a pin cushion from all the red dots they had on the screen
red= tornadoes
Blue= hail
green = thunderstorms
it had more than 200 dots all together
 
what made it so bad was the time between storms it had to warm back up.. that dont happen often... even the national weather service in Huntsville had to take cover but the news casters did a great service yesterday... no telling what the death toll would have been without em
 
Thank you for the pictures John. Tuning in to the news only shows the royal wedding over and over. Maybe two minutes coverage of the storms. If a nuke plant had been hit and someone died, we'd see plenty of storm coverage.

"World news" offered a little more coverage. They're on the wedding now. Let's hope the pope doesn't die.
