Starting Up with Cattle

Help Support CattleToday:

I'm just 5 years into my small herd. Things I've looked into: maintaining recip cows for local registered/seedstock breeders who want to do a ton of embryo transfers, grass-fed/humanely raised beef (what I'm actually doing), hunting leases, government programs to help with watershed, soil improvement, etc., weird niche markets: emus/bison/longhorns/highland or mini-highland. Not saying any of these are even decent ideas. but if you've got the land, there are lots of possibilities, some of which might even make a little money :) Good luck!

if u have the feed could buy some old bred cows............let them calve ...sell them all when calves are big enough..........then buy some good bred heifers
