are getting all to common around here, like the flu, not a week goes by that i dont hear of a case.. wonder whats up?? ... anyone else seeing this in your area?

Heard lots of people who go in for surgury and end up with that staph infection up here. It is all over.

employee just recently had staph, that started with a spider bite...imagine chiggers could trigger it to.. worst bout with chigger was couple years ago, at a slave cemetary.. they eat me up,still got scars on my ankles, from clawing like a rat :cowboy:TexasBred":3vxab3xp said:

i think our immune systems are wiped out because of the sanitizers and the clean freak Society we have become. I got MRSA from an infectecd hair a few year ago. very painful and i will not describe what it looked like.

We have a staff infection on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 9:00 in the morning. Coffee and donuts and get to listen to the boss ramble on..... No, wait you spelled staff differently.

Had one in the nose about a year back. Face swollen like I had been in the boxing ring. Slits for eyes. Went to the ER and didn't get much help. Just a huge bill. Went to my doc the next day on Monday and he pumped me full of antibiotics.
Personally I think it is all the drug users and high contagious spread. There are hundreds of varieties and the tell me our hands are covered with milder varieties all the time.

A coincidence I guess, but we're having a similar discussion on another forum I'm on that has a couple of physicians as members. I learned a few things there.
Remember when we were young and a doctor's office and hospitals were all glass and stainless steel? No so much anymore. Plastics are everywhere. Plastic is one of the surfaces that s. epidermidis likes, grows and thrives upon. It does need some sort of film on which to adhere and bind to, but with sneezing and coughing, that film is everywhere sick people congregate--especially in waiting rooms and busy exam rooms.

The ability to form biofilms on plastic devices is a major virulence factor for S. epidermidis. One probable cause is surface proteins that bind blood and extracellular matrix proteins. The organism's capsule, known as polysaccharide intercellular adhesion (PIA), is made up of sulfated polysaccharide. It allows other bacteria to bind to the already existing biofilm, creating a multilayer biofilm. Such biofilms decrease the metabolic activity of bacteria within them. This decreased metabolism, in combination with impaired diffusion of antibiotics, makes it difficult for antibiotics to effectively clear this type of infection.[3] S. epidermidis strains are often resistant to antibiotics, including penicillin, amoxicillin, and methicillin. True. Staph epidemidis is probably on everyone's hands, wrists and face right now that are reading this. It doesn't even like to live in the bloodstream but reallly likes skin, nasal passages, and inside the lungs. It is the most common staph infection and that's because it is a surface bacteria and virtually everyone has it on them at all times. About the plastics. That is interesting and makes sense. Plus plastics scratch, who knows what is hiding on it.

Thanks inner ear infections are heck to get rid of, the bone surrounding the inner ear is honeycomb, I didn't know until this. The little bugs in the honeycomb are heck to kill off. Doc's would put me on a couple of rounds of anti's it would seem to clear up and come back. This last time doc said if it doesn't clear up we are going to talk about home health coming out and hanging an IV every few days.
