stacking round bales

Help Support CattleToday:

Also depends on the size of the bales and the weight of the tractor/fluid in tires etc.

For many livestock operations, the WEIGHT of the tractor is much more important than the hp. If you are talking about 5x6' large round bales, I would say that most 50 hp range tractors are not designed for nor safe for lifting 1500 lb bales that high unless fluid in tires and firm level ground.

If you are talking about smaller bales then maybe. Safety is number 1 concern. People are killed in tractor accidents way too often.

Depends on the loader

Yup.

My 46 HP Kubota 4610 can stack 3 high with a 4X4 bale but not with a 4X5 - not because of weight, but height.

If you put the 2 bottom rolls on their sides and the top one regular you shouldn't have any trouble. make sure that moisture can't get to them. Always safety first!

I have stacked 4X5's 3 high with a 43hp Kubota but I don't unless I have to because it is pretty dangerous and pretty scary. You have to spear it toward the bottom and then MAKE it go up.
