SS Nitrogen Applications ?

Several boys here threating to replace their silage corn with sorghum sudan since it is "low input". Looked up some extension data. Cornell has some great info. Without manure - - they are recommending more N on SS than corn!

Are most SS growers starving their crop?

The rule around here is 1 pound of N for each day of expected growth. Don't ask me who made the rule.

Sounds about right in dry areas, but these guys were going for yield in the wetter east and it was 2 to 3# N per day.
