well i finally broke down an bought a preifert SO4 squeeze chute with the dolly.ended up costing me $3100.i did save about $700 on the chute.hope to have it here sometime next week.

That's real good BB. Nothing better than getting a tool you needed for a long time.

I bought a like new 4 year old 7'x20' trailer today for $4500 and feel like I stole it. Came complete with mats and tires that smell new.(the tires not the mats)

weve gotten by with out 1 for almost 40yrs.an im glad ive got it.will allow us to worm an tag the cows as needed.but im really hoping we dont need it for anything major.

Havin a squeeze chute is like havin a good impact wrench. You'll wonder how you ever did it without one. Good price, too, BB. Not familiar with the SO4. Does it have an automatic head gate or is it manual catch?

the SO4 is the caddy of squeeze chutes.an yes it has the auto head gate.i wouldnt buy a squeeze chute without the auto head gate.now i did not put the palp cage on it.now that i may regret.

The palp cage is easy to add (if you have the dollars), it just pins to the back of the chute. The analogy of the impact wrench is right on the money.

thanks dun if i have a need for the palp cage money wont be a prob.now a set of scales is what will kill the pocketbook.maybe 1 day ill be rich enough to afford a set of scales.

i priced a set of truetest scales this morning from prefert an they was $1850 for 4400lb load bars an mid priced weigh monitor.but i might could get them cheaper as well.but i didnt ask the guy to price me a set of scales with the chute.

I came up to the modern world a few years ago and put a squeeze at 2 different places. I find them the most least used piece of equipement I have ever owned. They are great for specific problems but for most regular treatment I can work 6 in an entry chute in the same time it takes to do 1 in a squeeze. Well that is me, with my cows and I don't expect it to be the same for everyone else. My Brahmans don't get that warm secure feeling that Temple Gradin shows in her movie. I hope yours works good for you.

I think it's generally safer for both me and the animals to use the chute to confine them rather then using an alleyway. But ours are conditioned to it, when you start poking needles or reaching underneath or lifting tails I like the security of knowing they aren;t going to bust out if they do happen to go nuts.
We did have to work fat Pauncho in the alleyway for his BSE last week, he won;t fit in the squeeze chute anymore.

Had an auto head gate once and didn't like it. It would miss more than it caught on cattle with horns. Now that I got rid of all the animals with horns I kinda wish I had bought one with the auto gate. Scales would be nice - maybe in the next life ....

well i doubt we will use the auto feature on it much as a few of our cows have horns.i talked to a friend of mine.an said since i was going to get a squeeze chute get the top of the line.so i did.i added it all up yesterday an that chute just like i got was $4800.so i saved alot of money.

I've been eyeing a for-most chute for a while now. maybe next year. I have a chute, just want something bigger with a palpate cage and that squeezes a little different.

It seems that now is a good time to be attending farm auctions. Before we bought our chute I went to auctions every week for 2 years. Either the chute was junk or sold for as much as new. A fiend of mine went to an auction last week, they sold 2 chutes that other then a little rust are about like new. Neither of them brough 800 bucks. Lots of folks baling out of the business and selling out.

I agree with Dun several purebred folks selling out in the next few weeks around here. Today i bought alot of A.I equip for $100 dollars looked up the new price of the stuff and it was $876 dollars worth. I normally dont get deals like that.

Meant to add ive got an S04 chute it is a real user friendly chute youll really like it.
