Here's a few pictures I just took. I know steel has gone up, but this was $6,600 delivered thirteen months ago. He's in southeast Oklahoma, about 2 hours from me.

On behalf of Ferguson Livestock equipment, we thank you. We have been in business over 30 years and our equipment was first built to handle open range clear cut cattle,as a result, it will hold rank ones.

What prices are y'all seeing out there in similar chutes? It's not that I don't have the money-but it's a bit more (about 2k more per model) that I was expecting. Perhaps I just had my pricing expectations too low. With 50 cows, it's tough to make that pencil even expecting it to last me the rest of my life.

Or, if there's a dealer anybody has had dealings with close to Kentucky y'all could recommend I would appreciate some recommendations.

Sounds about right - I bought one about 3 years ago ans got 0% for 60 mo i believe.

love my arrowquip - wasp(s) are another story :)
 
If I was buying a chute today I'd look into some of the off brands. Amarillo, RBW Rancher, and Ranger come to mind. The RBW Rancher chute looks nice and the hydraulic model is $8,200 with electric or gas powered pump. The name brand chutes are priced too high for a guy with 25-100 cows running them through a few times a year. There's several places close to us selling thes models and they look surprisingly solid.

We've got a 30 yr old Pearson that we rebuilt 7-8 yrs ago that still works fine so they are a long term investment. We would like to upgrade though.
 
This thread made me look back when I bought our squeeze in 2018. I just used it yesterday to work a new heifer we added to the group. That Priefert SO4 is still working great. It's so simple and reliable.

I'm probably going to be setting up a new set of pens this year. I may look at a permanent squeeze to stay there. It will be interesting to price and check out all the chutes again.

Bought my preifert in 2018 also. Bought the 03 instead of the 04. Wishing now I hadn’t as I have some cows that simply won’t fit through. Rarely run the older cows through as mostly just for shots but that scissor tail gat would be nice to have

Funny how nomenclature has changed over time. Looking for a "chute" back in the day would confuse people that sold working equipment. They'd have to ask you what you meant. But I guess they don't sell a lot of loading chutes nowadays. And people call alleys, chutes, now too. And it appears that chutes are also squeezes today, when squeezes were once specific.

Kind of like I hear people mispronounce "chaps" all the time... like they are talking about a couple of Englishmen instead of the real origin of the word derived from chaparajos.
 
The rear gate on the S04 is nice where you use the full gate or half the gate. It's perfect when you narrow up the squeeze to match for calves.

I'm surprised at how small of a calf you can catch, to how big of a cow you can catch, with just a few quick adjustments.

It's easy to hide and blend in with the rear gate so they will go past you vs standing at the front.

I think you are overthinking things a bit Travlr. But you are probably right.
How about just calling it a crush like we do.

Yes the squeeze and open width are very quick and easy to adjust

Speaking of boxes, I remember another of my granddad's...........they had a wall mount, rotary dial telephone that he called a ratchet box, because when granny got on it her jaws wouldn't stop ratcheting. All telephones were ratchet boxes.
