This was my husbands idea of Labor Day weekend fun. We did finish the job, only the finished project pics are on a second roll not developed yet. This was part way thru day 1...

He's tired of weed whacking 10 feet tall burning nettles, I don't like spraying chemicals cuz I don't want the run off going into areas the cattle can graze. So this was his answer...also keeps the bank from eroding...luckily we had a great weekend to get it done!

sure looks purty!, And looks like ya got lots of help there too!

Gosh, I should been Amish, or at least more predigous in my youth................our one young un aint like 5 young uns or even more, to help............coulda shoulda. :cboy:

That sure is a pretty barn and fancy rocks. That was a good idea. Apparently lots of work though. Ought make a good place for snakes to hang out.

Snakes!! Never thought of that!! Luckily about the only snakes we see are the grass snake...lets hope it stays that way! For everyone that likes the "barn" we call it a pole shed...my husband and oldest son built it all themselves about 6 years ago. It took them most of the summer inbetween all the other necessary work, and only weekends at that. They are pretty proud of their accomplishment...thanks for the nice words everyone!

Nice landscaping project yu have done! (I'm former landscape contractor).

On the other hand...what you spent on landscaping the barn's slope would probably have bought a Semi-Load of hay...more return on investment...lol.

RoundUp works very well too...lot cheaper. ;-)

Yeah, but roundup kills everything, then the bank erodes....see there are no flat spots on our farm. We had to haul in many loads of shale in order to get a big enough spot to put up the shed. There are always cheaper answers to problems....but it may not always be the best solution. Believe me...my comment to my husband was...."i've spent how many hours picking rock from fields over the years, and now you want to pay someone to haul rock in  "

And....I've got more hay this year then I need.... :)
