HDs dog food thread got me to thinking bout how spoiled our dogs are.as yall know june started our days of 100 temps for about 70 days.well we went an bought baby gates so we could pen the dog in the wash room so she would be cooler.an even put a blow fan on her,an ice in her water inside an outside.she got to where she was staying in the house 18hrs a day due to the heat.an even now she sleeps in the house at nite.i doubt she will ever sleep in the garage again.

while there are probqbly dogs that work harder then mine do, what mine do is very helpful..from keeping me sane, to making me laugh to helping me outside...

Ive entrusted my safety with my dogs on my then one occassion..least I can do is spoil them abit now and then. :)

the only time i trust my safty to my dog is when im feeding.an that can be risky as she could cause a cow to jump over the trough im at.

I get ribbed all the time from friends and family about how I "spoil" my dogs. But they deserve what they get - I know my dogs protect us and when on the farm, they will do as I ask, no questions asked (unlike my children ;-) ). They have worked cattle on hot and cold days, stayed by my side during the bad times, and were there to celebrate the good. So - I treat them as they have treated me - respectfully, and with love.

Those are some nice sentiments TnWI.

My dog literally just licked my knee on the way by me to her bed while I was reading this. She's only allowed in the house in the evenings and weekends when we're home. She lives in the garage during the day.

Free choice food and water and a lot of attention and affection. If they need to cool off they can go to the stock tank.

When my dog was a pup I had him tied to the ATV while I fed some cows on a snowy morning. He decided he needed to make his presence known about the time I went to dumping buckets in the trough. Cows came barreling over the troughs and knocked me down, I bout got trampled. Lesson learned.

my dogs stay in the house most of the time now.....
their primary function is to protect the wife and serve as an alarm.
If I get awake enough to pick up the 44 mag then i will take over from there.
any damned cow that knocks me down now is subject to a visit from aforementioned 44 as well.

Our dogs(4) are spoiled beyond belief . Started out they came in the house during the winter , then somehow I lost controll and they forgot to move back outside in the spring . My wifes pet catahoodlum sleeps on the bed with us . Nobody is getting into this house and our house is known for the syco dogs . The UPS and Fedex men call before stopping in . Mind you they love the Schawns man he gives them bones . we live 32 miles from town so we don't call 911 .

Yea, and then jump into the front seat of your just cleaned truck to dry off! Kept mine in the truck today while the service guys repaired the tractor tire in the field. Of course, after they left I let the dog out and it immediately rolled around in the water that was drained from the tractor tube. The truck smelled like $hit all the home. In spite of all that, he's still my best buddy. He cleaned up good!
