I’m relaxed, and I get it. You are correct, but my “out there” can be written and read without a bathroom break.

I've had people die on the road. People that were thrown from cars because their seat belt was laying unbuckled on the seat next to them. People that were walking and had cars kill them. I've got people permanently disabled by accidents. Lost limbs. I've been rear ended five times. And I've done more than my share of dangerous driving. We could fill a book with that. But I respect people that respect and understand the law. And if no one wants to read a long post? Yeah, hit the bathroom...

Last Friday I was on I-84 headed to Ontario. Just started up the hill out of Moore's Hollow. That is probably a 2 mile stretch of road not real curvy but not straight with about a 5% grade. I drive that weekly. Sometimes 3 times in a week. I had the cruise set at 73. The speed limit on I-84 is 70 mph and trucks 65 mph. I was in the left lane just starting around 3 cars driving a little slower. Some guy comes running up behind me. He is flashing his lights wanting me to move over. What? You want me to smash into the car am just passing? More flashes as I am passing these cars. I look at his plates in my mirror. He is close enough to hook up I could tow him. He is from out of state so I conclude that he is not on his way to a fire. I finally get past the 3 cars. I am ahead a safe distance use my turn signal and pull into the right lane. He shoots by and the rate at which he disappears he has to be doing over 80 mph. Tell me again how save it is to speed.
The limit here is 70 mph. The limit a short distance from here in Idaho is 80mph. We get a lot of cars from Idaho and those who just drove through Idaho who seem to think that the Idaho speed limit applies here.

I write trying to express myself in the same way that I would speak... any caps or underlining is intended only for emphasis, as if I was speaking, to make those words stand out just a bit more. I'm sorry if that offended you... and I apologize. The kids tell me that anytime you use caps today, it's supposed to indicate that you're yelling................. What? I always wonder why everyone is in such a rush to get someplace.

Where I live it's all 55mph 2 lane roads. My "neighbor" drives 70mph to town. Doing the math she saves 1 minute 10 seconds compared to driving the speed limit. Is getting to the grocery store that important you need to get there 1 minute earlier?

Ya I hate that. Speeding from stop light to stop light, back roads, school zones, etc makes no sense. You aren't making up any time and you a just tearing up vehicles. You have to be on open road for a couple hours with no stops for it to amount to any thing.

The same thing with out pacing traffic. If you are running too fast and constantly running up on cars you have to pass you are losing time also.

I hate when people haul butt through town being idiots just for me to then pass them on the open road.

One of the best things you can do to make up time is not speeding but passing ASAP every chance you get. You lose more time sitting behind slow cars than you make up speeding. It screws up you avg speed so bad that its hard to recover from it.

What I am running into lately is people not paying attention that you are going to make a left hand turn across the oncoming lane. The people come so fast and they just pass anyway. I suppose they are hoping you see them in your mirror, which I do watch. Had a pick up truck and a tractor trailer do this in the last couple of months. The other day I was turning to the left at Dad's and a red jacked up Dodge was gaining so fast on me that there was no way I was going to turn into that lane as it appeared he was going to blow right past me. I was ready for him to rear end me and he locked it down at the last minute and sat on his horn and passed me anyway. He was all over the pavement. With the others blowing past me, I could not take the chance. You definitely don't want to leave the road. I think often they are on their phones and have no idea what is going on in front of them. If I had of turned and was hit, they would swear I did not give a signal. I cannot figure out why people do not slow down when they see someone turning? Give someone the idea that you know they are trying to turn; slow down and back off a bit. I give signals a looooong way before I turn and tap my brake lights to let them know I am about there. I could not see who was in the truck but it must have been a kid or someone jacked up on recreational drugs, mushrooms, marijuana and beer. :ROFLMAO:

The problem is that you people live where there is just simply too dang many people. As a result there are lots of cars driven by those people on the road. Yesterday around 8:00 pm we were leaving town. The wife wanted to stop and get an ice cream bar. As we pulled out I stopped and looked both ways. Not a car in sight. This is a main street about a block from the freeway. Got on the freeway it was about 2 miles to the first car behind me. I was telling the wife about this thread and said I don't know how people live in places like that.

Let your mind wonder and run into or over a fellow driver. A large number of construction zone crashes in my area this year with drivers driving at full speed into the rear of slowed or stopped traffic.

The other big one is foreign drivers on I-80 drive 70 mph whether it is clear, snowing or black ice. Twenty years ago, everyone just got in line and drive the same speed through bad weather and very few accidents. Now we have truckers and 4 wheelers changing lanes and passing and generally going too fast for conditions and there are wrecks almost every day in the winter. Just plain stupid and it appears true we can't fix that.

That highway needs to be a 4-lane divided highway. When I run up to Fremont County it is always a dilemma of whether to risk my life on I-80 to Rawlins or U.S. 26 between Casper and Shoshoni.

We passed the "Slow Poke" law in Ga a couple of years ago. You get pulled over and given a tcket for driving under the speed limit in the left lanes.

Slow pokes are almost as dangerous as too fast and at huge risk of being rear ended by somebody not paying attention. Just move with the prevailing traffic speed for Pete's sake.
