Wow, we pay $3 an acre here for a lease on 10,000 acres but that's divided between almost 50 of us. Many just bear hunt and nothing else.

It comes out to $25/ac. That's quite a few acres. They are corporate leases.
 
When I was a teenager I would have someone drop me off a days walk from home and I would hunt all day till I got home. Nobody cared that I was hunting and if they seen me they would yell and ask if I was doing any good. Never imagined paying to hunt. But also never imagined paying for bottled water either.
