We had a storm run through this morning. We got a little rain. The thunder and lightning appeared to be up on the black. I had to go to town to get gas in my little run around S-10. On the way I spotted the fire cat on the lowboy out in front of me. He pulled off to go up Alder Creek. There was a train there so he had to wait. On the way back there was two trains . One parked and one headed west. But the fire cat was gone. I saw another west bound train. A looooong grain train. Then I met our pump truck headed that way with 3 young men wearing yellow shirts headed up the road toward Alder Creek. They will have a long wait at the tracks. Could find no information on the fire. Most everything between here and Alder Creek is already black. But the wind is blowing today and hard telling which way it is blowing at the fire. Here we go again.......

Talked to our fire boss. The fire wasn't up Alder Creek. The guy with the fire cat just pulled over there while trying to figure out how to get to the fire which was the other side of the road. They got lucky as the strike was on top of a ridge. So it didn't have a hill to run up on them. They burn slower going down hill. Before it got to the bottom and starting running up the other side the cat got there and put a stop to it. Just short grass in that area. Short grass which doesn't have a head of steam going is fairly easy to put out.
