My son and daughter-in-law are now in the cattle business. When I checked my two-year-old heifers this morning there was a little heifer calf going from one cow to the other trying to nurse, and obviously hadn't been cleaned. Of course I could tell which heifer it belonged to, so I closed the two of them up in a corner of the barn and watched them for a couple of hours. She completely ignored it, and I'll be out of town the next few days and won't be able to fool with it, so I called my son and asked if he and my daughter-in-law would like to have it. I think she's thrilled. She rode with it the 6 or 7 miles back to their house on the back of his truck in the cold.

By the way, I'll be out of town because my wife is having surgery, so any prayers would be appreciated.

 
You can get you a piece of PVC pipe and change that cows attitude. However, being with the Mrs. is more important right now. Plus I think you made your daughter in laws day! Hope all goes well.
 
Prayers for your wife. Your dil looks tickled , as she should be. That's a nice calf. Hope it works out well for them.

Nice looking calf to bad it's mom won't take it. I had one like that put her butt in the chute and showed the calf where dinner was. A few days of that and she tired momma out cow decided it was just easier to let her nurse. Hope your Son and DIL have good luck with it.

Hope your wife's surgery goes good and she recovers ok.
 
I appreciate all the good wishes. And yes, the calf got some colostrum. They stopped by a Jersey dairy down the road from me and got some on the way to pick up the calf. I've been getting regular updates, and the calf is taking the bottle fine and doing well.
