I walked in to Dollar General this evening and there was a young man was 2 people in front of me. The line had kind of stalled and I noticed him rubbing his card. He said he would be right back and took off out the store. He had diapers, an electric heater, and a 2L of mug rootbeer, $36ish.

When he came back in the cashier told him he was good and it was taken care of. Then a gentleman behind me asked him... son, is there any thing else you need to get you by. He said no sir, no sir... I get paid tomorrow and kept saying thank you... thank you. It literally made me start tearing up. He took off out the store running.

The cashier said he lived a couple houses behind the store and had just a started working there a week or so ago. They were hoping his direct deposit would hit today but it probably won't be until tomorrow.

Last week I was gryping at my family because my deep freeze was full and they hadn't taken some of the meat. I wanted room so I could fit a deer head if I had to. 😔 It's easy to kind of get insulated in your own world some times.

Had some at Wal-Mart just after thanksgiving. Those prepaid cards are rip offs. Man had a receipt from the customer service desk 15 min prior. $200deposited on the card. He had less than $50 of food and medication in line. He looked so defeated when the cashier couldn't do anything for him. We did. Kept the line moving. Cashier looked as though she saw an angel. The man kept asking if I was sure. I told him it was ok, because we had a little help when we needed it. I noticed his keychain on his way out, US Navy. He said he would pay if forward when he can. I know he will.
