Its Australian money. Our money is about 75/76cents to your dollar at the moment but it has been as low as 52 cents but thats a while ago now.
Some of these registered herds are fairly high profile in their respective breeds.

Yeah some of them are quite high profile, Palgrove and Gunnadoo are two of the most well known, if not the most well known Charolais breeders in Australia. Yarrawonga~Waco are in my opinion the premier Santa breeders in the country.

Top sale price for the week was $80,000 for a Droughtmaster. Will give more details later.

I'm not really suprised about that price, which sale was that?

Droughties are becoming one of the "it" beef breeds at the moment down here in Aussie Land.

The Glenlands sale near Rockhampton. The bull that I said to look out for made a measly $37,500.

Wait ill next week the Brahman bulls sell at Rockhampton all 1100 of them. There will be semen, embryos and females at separate sales over that period as well.

Interested to know if the Bonsmara are represented as a seperate breed, or incorporated into the Belmont reds?
How dothey compare in popularity to the Droughtmaster?

Generally the Bonsmara I believe is represented separately but there is a fair bit of mixing with the Belmonts.
Droughtmasters are a very good breed,tried and true so most cattleman know them and I would say because they have more bone,scale and possibly milk would preclude persons trying them.I've looked at the Bonsmaras at one time but for me they didn't have enough loose skin or a softness about them. They were somewhat lighter in the bone as well. They would probably be very good as a terminal sire over Droughtmasters perhaps.

For every US dollar ours is worth about 75cents.
Our top cattle make fairly good money. Going to have look and see how day one of the big Rockhampton Brahman week sale went. http://www.brahman.com.au

Do y'all not have the weekly sales like we do? If I had a reason to I could go to two sales a day six days a week within 100 miles of the house. Five of those sales are within about 30 min.Z

I could probably do the same but not maybe two sales a day but at least one a day within maybe 200 miles. At our small sales complex we have weekly sales each Monday. The time that this varies is during the period of less supply of cattle during the latter part of winter when the sales go to fortnightly. A couple of the larger sales centres up north sell in excess of 5 to 10,000 head per week over two sales, in peak time.

Top price at Rockhampton Brahman week sales. $90,000 for a red bull by US sire JH 2000 out of a VL Elena dam.This was on day 3 of the sales. Day one top was a red full African embryo bull he made $50,000. Will give all Brahman enthusiasts full run down in the next week. There would have been bargains amongst the huge offering. Did see many that sold from $2,000 to $4,000.

I saw the $90,000 bull in Queensland Country Life this morning, a guy from NT bought him.
