These are some of our open heifers that we are planning on retaining. Our weaned calves are mainly Feb-April, and Are being fed daily actually twice daily since it tuned off so dry, hence why a lot of my posted pictures are when they are eating. These are sired by an Angus bull and a couple Hereford bulls.
This is a yearling Hereford x Beefmaster

how old are these two and what/how much are you feeding? we've got a couple of yearling heifers we are keeping.

The top heifer is about 13 months, and the other is 6. There are mainly this years calves but a few yearling heifers in the group for now too. They are getting roughly 6-7 lbs of a mixed ration at this time. Until it was so dry they were only getting about half that.

In my limited experience with brindles, a couple Jersey Hereford crosses years ago and this cow now we believe her to be a longhorn Hereford cross their calves had always all been non brindled out of both Hereford and Angus bulls. This calf this year is the first one to retain it. This particular cow always raises a good stout made calf, except for two years ago her calf grew out looking like an excessively white Hereford with a longhorn phenotype. So maybe certain traits only manifest once in a while?
