A Wal-Mart assistant manager called County Sheriff's Office deputies Saturday around 10:30 p.m. to report a woman on a motorized shopping cart was riding around the store almost hitting other customers while shoplifting.
According to the incident report:
Mote, 38, stuffed merchandise inside her purse while smoking in the store. The assistant manager confronted her, telling her to stop smoking four times.
Mote cursed and yelled loudly after the assistant manager told her she was going to call BCSO. She also began ripping packaging material from products she had stuffed in her purse, throwing them to the floor.
When deputies arrived, Mote was sitting in the motorized shopping cart outside.
Deputies noted in the report that Mote was disoriented, had slurred speech and was unable to stand. She was not able to tell deputies how she got to the store.
Mote allowed deputies to search her purse. They found prescription tablets Motes told them was Oxycontin.
Deputies also found a blue bank bag and several cosmetic containers, which Motes said she "stole from Wal-Mart."
The prescription medication was confirmed to be Oxycontin and Mote was charged with state disorderly conduct, possession of a Schedule II narcotic and drugs to be kept in original container.
