Just thought I'd share with you guys the prices I got today. Black Angus crosses. Mostly all blacks with a few baldies and 2 reds.

25 head steers average weight 564 155.00 (874.20 a head)
34 head steers average weight 795 128.00 (1017.60 a head)
26 head heifers average weight 573 140.00 (802.20 a head)
25 head heifers average weight 786 120.00 (943.20 a head)

I sure hope our barns are at least 4 months behind . Just started caving last month. Had a friend that sold a bull last week .1920 pounds .90 cents a pound . Makes me wanna load the whole heard and sell em . Jk I hope they stay up .

How we gonna increase the US beef herd if everyone loads them up and sells em?! ;-)

Congratulations! Question: Average weight is up by 35lbs per head this year over last if I did the math right. Did you do something different this year that you can attribute the increase in selling weight to?

No nothing different really. They were on the wheat pasture while it was there but since its been so dry here there hadn't been much out there the past month or so.
 
This is a bit off topic from OKC, but there was a pen lot of 350# steers in Northern California today that sold for $201/cwt.

Suppose it costs somewhere close to $1/lb of gain, how do you make money having to put 850# on them buggers when you paid over $700/hd?

My math is that 1200# fat would have to be somewhere around $129! Say they fed em up to 1400#, that is still over $110.

Crazy.
