Sodium (Na) Application to Pasture ?

went and did a little reading.
my first thought was that sodium for the animal should be adequately provided by the mineral in addition to the natural sources from the forage.
second thought is....will adding Na to the soil add it to the forage. Possible but not a linear relationship.
Is Na deficient?
Plant uptake is probably more related to the soil mineral balance than to the amount of sodium.

reading verified most of this.

I have heard of this but would agree with pdfangus.

There may be a need on some soils with a soilt test due to defficeny,

I have also used some as a herbicide in sugar beet. (sugar beet likes sodium, the weeds not at all) Worked a treat, green grass to dead looking brown in 12 hrs after early morning aplication.
