Well, beside the embryo calf we lost early, things are going well here. We had calf 3 born last night, and 4 born sometime early this morning. Three heifers, one bull and three with the desired white face.
This calf was born last night. The dam is an Upgrade sire heifer, we showered her at Nationals in TX (she was 7th high bred and owned heifer) and in Iowa this year. She has been on grain until August 1st, when we kicked her to pasture to hopefully prevent a huge baby. The calf is sired by One Eyed Jack, and is big (I will weigh her in after our field day today at the extension). This is a heifer calf, which is good for the daughter!

This cow was 286 days, and also bred to ACW Iron Hide. Just fresh out of the oven early this morning, he was standing next to the Iron Hide heifer we had last week (Sept 1st, 62 pounds) and he is BIGGER. I bet he will be in the 70's pound range. This cow always has big calves, she has been a recip in our herd for several years. We are selling the pair in our fall sale this fall, that is why we AI'd her instead of the embryo.

And if you look up the Iron Hide message, that is the other two calves, both small heifers. So we are off to a good start!
Now I am off to the Extension Field day, to learn more about forages and what ever else they have on the menu! :D
