Anybody tell me anything about a S&W 380 Auto pistol called a "Body Guard"?? Friend wants to sell his. Says he's only had it a few months and shot it about 50 times. $300 . Looked it up on internet and read a bit about it but still know nothing about it. Know they make good revolvers but not being a gun expert really didn't even know they made automatics.
 
I know nothing about the S&W Bodyguard but I do have a .41 magnum, 44 special, and .357 mag all revolvers in stainless steel that I really enjoy a lot.

The "Body Guard" is what I carry in the summertime mine has the lazer. I had a Taraus TCP the Bodyguard shoots way better IMO. In the winter I carry a S&W M&P Compact .40. I really like both guns. B&G
 
In my experience S&W has been very consistent in putting out a good product. If they launch it is is probably going to be reliable, accurate and maybe pretty. I have an older 1970's vintage Model 19-4 nickel plated model in .357 mag. Nice pistol. Most of what I have heard of the Bodyguard has been positive. That sounds like a good price too.

They trade higher than that here. I have owned a couple but never shot them. Everyone seems to like them. I carry the real bodyguard from S&W. The old stainless ones in 38 and 357. Even have one in 44 special but have not shot it yet. Im sure its a handful.

kt....drove over this morning early and looked at that gun. Didn't realize it was so small. Got him down to $280 and bought it. Guess the wife might enjoy it. Shot it a few times and that little laser sight puts it right on the money.
 
Gimpy, I bought my wife a mod 39 years ago. A great single stack pistol. Several thousand rounds thru it. She uses it as a everyday carry weapon.
 
If I were in LE, I'd trade up to higher capacity. But I'm of the mind that I have enough to handle a problem because I can hit what I'm shooting at. Not necessarily all bulls eyes. But I'll take 'm down with what I got.

On the other hand, I'd love to have one of the 22mag 30 round autos to carry. Just me I guess. Carried my 22mag derringer concealed all through my years in private practice.

Now I open carry (rural) most of the time.
 
Gimpy, I believe George kilgren designed that pistol. It is his second attempt. I have one of his originals the grendel p30. Only mini mags seem to feed reliably. I sure enjoyed shooting it, but like so many others now it is a safe queen gathering dust. Oh well it won't rust being polymer.

I heard/read about the first iteration. It's been refined.

I believe at last count on the new version, they're over 50,000 units.

The 22 mag rifle rounds can be a problem. Huge flames and FTFs/FTEs.

OTOH, the 22mag personal protection pistol rounds (designed for 2" barrels) are great with no failures.

At the pistol range, everyone stops and checks out who is shooting the gun with so many rounds. They expect to see a banana clip. It's hard to believe at first. It's a fun gun and would be lethal. I just can't keep the smile off my face when shooting it. Fast follow-up shots because of so little kick. Now I don't automatically carry an extra mag anymore.
