I have a 2019 F-150, a new but older version (2021) Verizon Motorola android phone and bought the smart phone last weekend predominantly to have access to navigation since my pickup doesn't have it installed and Ford wants over $800 for their versionn.
Now, I have to say right up front, that I know nothing about smart phones.............
The phone works fine for everything else. It connects via bluetooth to my pickup for hands free calling and messaging.
The google map thing works good as far as bringing up the route and visual directions and path, AND provides audio directions (in 1/4 mile, turn left onto....) IF, I'm at the Verizon store, but once I leave there, it is silent al the way to destination UNLESS destination is my driveway. As soon as I pull into the driveway, the audio works. It's almost as if google map is working off wifi only and used the wifi at Verizon store, then picks up my wifi router at home instead of connecting to mobile data while driving along..
We recently drove to Paris Texas and back (before I bought the phone) and my wife told me she had the same problem while using here phone for Google Maps while in my truck and the only way she got it to work was to turn off Bluetooth on her phone. Shouldn't have to do that.
Is there something about my truck that is causing this?
Anyone run in to this before?
Got a fix?
