I have two black calves that I noticed when feeding them that when I rubbed on neck along shoulder line their skin feels dry and bumpy. You can't see anything but you can feel it. Could this be lice? They were wormed about 6 months ago and probably needed it again. I just got my Cylence in today and will be fly battling this weekend.

Very well could be as they have been bad this year here. I had been using some fly spray from Tractor supply but it gets them controlled for about 3 days. I ordered some cylence for flies. Hope to it will control better. My flies are those tiny flies that come in droves. Must be a 1000 of them on each cow. I spray the tractor supply stuff and helps go a couple of days.

If you have a funnel point...choke point...like a gate between 2 places they need to get to every day, then you might look at hanging up oilers, dusters, or both. I know the flies you are talking about. They are especially bad about congregating on a bull' s neck/shoulder hump, for some reason. They are a bummer for us down here in the south, but they beat the hell out of blizzards! :)
