SLVLDVFC Planet Hollywood

I think I have seen calves from him and they were really nice, long and good muscled. But I surprised I haven't seen more calves from him if these are typical results from him.

The Limi seedstock guys are busy chasing the homo/polled and homo/black traits. He is horned so I think that is hurting him............Wish those fellas would understand that the homo trait that we are interested in as commercial ranchers is homo/performance!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually he is Double Polled according to NALF.

Anybody had any experience with calves off of this bull? How are they for temperament. The two best black Limo bulls I've seen in the past few years have been of of this sire. I'm thinking about buying one. Any experiences, good, bad or ugly?

I only have one daughter out of him and she is a really nice female. One reason hardly anyone is using him now is that his milk EPD is a 4 which is way way below breed average. His sons would probably make a great terminal sire but there is no way I would want to save any females out of him or his sons. I havent seen any other cattle sired by him lately and I dont think you would see many if anyone using him anymore.

I am sure you are correct, but the semen listing had him horned. I know that I bought 2 bulls at the McGee dispersal in 2001, and while I was there they had several head of of Hollywood. They were well put together.

The bull I saw at Ag Days that was sired by him was horned so unless horn dominance works differently in the Limo breed, he can't be double polled. Very well put together animals though and I'd be using his son on my Angus cows so horns shouldn't matter anyway.

Doesnt make any difference if the bull was horned or not. Planet Hollywood is double polled. Not homozygous polled but he is double polled. https://www.nalf.org/find_a_pedigree/an ... prefix=NPM

Houston you are mis-reading the link on him at Bovine Elite. It says horn: but has no status beside it like the color or price does.

Im not trying to dispute anyone. I know the Limousin breed for the most part and I know he is Double Polled. I have flushed a cow to him a few years back before his milk number got so bad. His sire SLVL Beef looked outstanding and was homo black but he produced many daughters that didnt have enough milk to raise a kitten. Beef also has feet issues. I saw him sell a few years back in Mississippi. Had I thought he could breed 30-40 females a year in a 40 acre pasture as a Terminal sire I had considered buying him. I had known for a fact he was removed from at least one prior sale for feet problems so I looked him over really well. I simply did not think he was sound enough to do that. People are going to use whatever bull they want to use. I am just trying to share what I know about the bull like you asked. Thanks, Bill
