Sloppy joes

I had some family come up yesterday so I cooked a roast on the smoker grill for about four hours, and then braised it in beer for about four hours, added in some honey barbeque sauce. Dang it turned out great. This is the second time I have done this recipe, the first time I got busy and let the braising liquid cook out. This time I made sure that didn't happen.

When I was young (very) a small local grocery store used to sell "bbq sandwiches" but in reality were what amounted to sloppy joes. My mother used to send me to get them when she was busy with other things.
They were 5 for $1.
They were really tasty tho, dripping with goodness and a bit of grease.

Do you have quantities for those ingredients?
2# hamburger
onion
18-24 oz ketchup
3-4 heaping tablespoons of dark brown sugar
2tablespoons apple cider vinegar or 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
liberal dosing of chili powder
pinch of cinnamon
sometimes some bbq sauce, whatever's in the fridge

I also use Tony Chachere's and Lowry's seasoned salts. Sometimes I put a good dose of Tabasco on mine, but not in the whole batch. those are all approximate, I really don't measure.

We normally throw a package of hot dogs in the skillet too, while cooking down the sauce. Make some french fries or mac and cheese to go along, you got yourself a meal that will stick to your ribs.

I make mine with 2 cans of tomato sauce (yes, store-bought...), a handful of brown sugar, a good healthy squirt or two of ketchup, a drizzle of Worchestershire sauce, a big pinch of onion powder, and once it's all mixed together in the pan, I throw in the cooked hamburger, and some finely diced green peppers if I have them and let it simmer a while. I grew up on Manwich (my mother was not a good cook), and this tastes pretty close to my memory of the Manwich, if that's what you're looking for.
