When I took over some of my Dad's beefmaster cows years ago, I put a black homo polled Limo bull on em and got some calves that looked like those.

One of my Beefmaster breeder clients, 20+ years ago, had a black purebred cow in his herd; don't recall if she was 'U' classified or not, but she was one of his best.
Have seen some photos recently of a black Beefmaster bull with virtually no sheath or leather.

I can't find it right now - seems like he may have been a son of 'Soul Man'(or, maybe himself) - and there were rumors - and a lawsuit - alleging that Soul Man was half Angus, rather than pb Beefmaster. Not sure what the final disposition on that case was.
The photo I saw - you'd have never said "Beefmaster"; black Charolais, maybe, but nothing, at least from the quartering-away angle it was shot, to suggest any Brahman influence.

They come all sorts of ways it seems.
This heifer was coal black/white at birth, but has begun to turn charcoal. Dam was brindle BM, sire was BM--looks a lot like the young bull below.
Both out of the same BM bull.
I don't know much about the genetics beyond that. Wish I had de-horned her, but didn't have a working chute when I got her--bred now to a big ol Charlais/BM cross bull.

I thought he might make a good lookin bull, but that narrow rear end don't look so promising.

Look close in the slideshow--you'll see a few dark ones if you look close enough. My old eyes aren't good enough anymore to claim they're black, but they could be. Thanks for the link!

i have a lot of black and white beefmaster calves. and several black beefmaster cows. most of my black calves right now are coming from a red and white paint bull! but his momma was a black beefmaster. my neighbor bought some pretty impressive black beefmaster bulls last year and i'm going with him this year when he goes to look for one for me. i have never chased black, but i'm not against black either, and i have to admit i like what ive seen. i am also probably going to hold back a white beefmaster bull calf this year to grow out.
