I've agonized over this one. She's really getting too big for a halter, but I can't decide if she's good enough to show or not.

Opinions please. She's about 9 months old.

i agree plenty of rib and capacity, nice muscling and an overall cool design. get her a neck sweat and it will help her a little up front. not that she desperately needs it. whats the pedigree???
 
shes ok too i guess. i really like that white faced simbrah in the background tho (as far as i can tell). looks like that gray is about due for a foot trim. that black calf is nice nice nice.
 
9 months isnt too big to break.

What we do with our 'maybes' is to break them in - keep them going on a bit of feed. Make a decision closer to the show. If she looks ok, then take her. If you decide not to, then you have at least got her broke - she shows potential now she may look really good later in life, and if she has been taught to lead she wont forget it. The other thing we will do is perhaps take them to a few local shows but not necessarily the royals - to get a bit of feedback on them and see how we really like them against other people's cattle.

She looks good. We heifer Simmental just like her we will be halterbreaking soon. She is 7 months old. We'll we selling her in the spring. I'd show her.
 
Thanks for the comments. She's quiet as you can see, so I'll put her in the barn and see what happens.

Beefy... you have good eyes! I can't believe you can see that white faced cow in the background and know it's a Simbrah! :roll: And the gray cow with the one long toe! :oops: We're going to get that clipped off shortly. She was foundered when she was young, and we have to knock off her toes about once a year. She has really nice calves, so it's worth the few minutes it takes. We can do it while she's laying around in the yard.

Her'e's a better Simbrah than the one in the background.

Very nice Simbrah cow. That heifer looks like a good replacement prospect. I'd go ahead and break her like Keren said and see how she goes.....
