Simmental cows to look for.

I'm out looking for some new simmental cow stock, and was wondering what cows you guys have had great success with?
I most of my cows our home grown cows and haven't bought very many simmental cows, but 2 years ago I bought a Lazy H Pathfinder son, and would like to get some out side PB stock to breed to him.
So any suggestions would be great.
Have to have avg milk, super growth, and would probably need to be smaller frame, but big pelvic would be a + because he is a big framed.

Average milkers don't provide 'super' growth. You'll also find that as frame size reduces, so do pelvic area.

Not always gassey, but thanks for you input, and smaller framed simmental isn't what you would think of a small framed angus or like your miniature bull . Score size of 5 is a small frame for a purebred.

You're right, my knowledge comes from the most accredited professionals in the cattle business. Yours from Jim bob down the rd and bc your daddy did it that way then it must be right.

I guess if you're saying 800lb jerseys can calve brahman sired calves easily, then no wonder I nvr had any calving problems using one on my 1100 lb heifers.

Dam right...got time I can show you a beautiful herd of them. 800 lb. jersey cows, 1500 lb. red brahman bulls, 1200 lb. beautiful crosses. Oh and reading the experts does not necessarily create experts. Just kids that quote experts.

Some of my best cows are older genetics. If you are talking strictly commercial, options are wide open. I really like cows that have Preferred Beef somewhere in there, along with Shear Force or Pacesetter. Great cows, milk tons, and raise a big calf every year. I have never had calving problems out of any of those. Goldmine cows tend to be a bit smaller, but I hear they are good females (I do not own any goldmine cows). Oh, and Built Right can really make a great female! We have several Built Right females, and all of them are great producers, smaller framed, and raise a great calf. Built Right tends to put a blaze face on them also.
Just some quick ones I was thinking of.
Here is a preferred beef daughter nursing a 6 month old Triple C Invasion bull calf

Here is a pacesetter cow, three years old, nursing her second calf. The calf is 6 months old in the pic

FS 5 is not small in any breed. FS 5 & 6 are what cattlemen refer to as 'moderate.'

For the last time, I agree with you! I've been a proponent of brahman ce from the beginning.

Now that is some beef! That first calf sure is a whooper.
Ive heard of shear force, but haven't ever seen any of his heifers in person. Diffidently will be on the look out for them.

If you are ever on the ASA website, look at Shear Force's numbers. Unbeatable! Pacesetter is a son of Shear Force, and can do just as good of a job as Shear Force. Pacesetter semen sold through ABS, not sure if they still carry him.
Here is a Pacesetter embryo heifer calf, 5 months, nursing on a 3 year old Shear Force daughter.

That cow raised a steer calf for us last year that went on to win the county carcass contest (choice, YG2), he finished out at 14 months, 1324 pounds, and hung on the rail at 890 pounds. We put an embryo in the cow before we knew the kind of calf she could produce (if our 2 year olds are doing a good job, they are our recips for the next year!), so this year she was AI'd again. This heifer calf on her side weaned off right at 700 pounds and 6 months old. The cow has a small, white, perfect teated udder. She might be a FS of 5 if she is lucky, but weans off a big calf every time! She is lucky if she weighs 1100 pounds, and both times weaned off calves at least 700 pounds.
