We weaned our calves last week. A couple of days later we noticed that one of the mama's was not doing well. Head down, ears drooped. She is one of our older cows, and have never had any health problems with her. She is just lying around, not eating well, and has lost weight. This is the first time we have experienced this, usually the mama's start looking a lot better when we pull the calves. I thought at first she might be depressed, but she is going down hill. And it's not like this is her first time. Any ideas from anyone?

get her in the chute and take her temperature. Just off hand it sounds like pnemonia or old cow wheezing. We have a few old crocks that whezze pretty bad, but they are lively.
As well while she is in the chute check for mastitis too.
