Show Steer issues

Hey Ya'll! Okay, so I am having some major problems with my show steer. Every time we lead he tosses his head and tries to get away from me. The weigh in for our fair is tomorrow. I am really worried that I'm not going to be able to control him, anything I can do or any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks :cboy:

The obvious thing to do would be to work with him more, but since you are on a time crunch that isn't an option. Have you tried noseleads? They work good for some animals, but others it just makes them more upset, but its worth a try. If not, just make sure you have someone strong with you (dad, etc.) who can help you out if need be! Definitely use a nose lead, every animal should be trained with one and have one in public for safety reasons. But if he's throwing his head around lift his head up. If he gets his head down he'll go.

Personally I would yank his chain until I got his attention again but I'm reluctant to offer that as advise because he might go on you.

The only livestock allowed to use noseleads at our fair are bulls, so that really out of the question. Thanks for the advice though. I had him out tonight, and I think he'll be manageable at the fair. Whenever he starts to move faster than me I just pull back on his chain and push back into his shoulder. Hoping for the best! :cboy:
