Got my shotgun back today that had that fubar choke tube.
All is good Remington got it out no charge along with a new choke tube.
I ran half dozen buckshot rounds down it just for grins.

Yes it was it has a set of Tru Locks in iit now.

I always toss factory choke tubes. except improved cylinder which I use for rabbit hunting on my deer shotguns they only are used with buckshot. The local gunsmith has my browning gold hunter and remingon 1100 magnums shooting like a rifle lol I have killed many deer 100 yds away with his custom made chokes and my 30" barrels. When I go to turkey shoots guys hate to see me coming. The gun smith will build a custom choke and make it however you want the gun to shoot and whatever size buckshot you want it to shoot.

No nothing. After looking at the way the chokes screw in I don't see how it was possible to peel the way it did.
The barrel is thiner opening up in the choke, I don't see how anything could have caught the lip of the choke tube.

I am more in building the load for the shotgun. I shoot Improved Modified and Lite Modified.
Chokes are not near as effective as powder,wad and buffer. Shotguns are like women each one needs something a little different from the next one.

Just a cheap one for the grandkids to tote when they are here.
The only shotguns I shoot are John Browning design's.
There is no way in he!! they can tote my Winchester's Browning's until I am dead.

lol yea have you seen the new winchester model semi auto's like the x2 and x3 models i think they are.

Never really cared for the semi's in a shotgun for some unknown reason.
I shoot semi in a pistol and rifle quite a bit.
I have an A-5 and a couple Model 11's spent most of there life in the safe.
The A-5 is a St louis Browning which is really a Remington as Browning got Remington to build his guns when Hitler invaded Belgium. THe Model 11's are pre 1914 bad design on the safety,inside the trigger guard, you pull it back towards the trigger to put it on safe.
Now I have pretty well retired my model 97's and 12's as well.
When I go to shoot now 95% of the time I use a BPS.

I only have 2 pump shotguns one for home defense and one for turkey hunting... Here we use dogs to hunt in our general firearms season and pumping a shotgun while 20 dogs are chasing a deer is almost a waste of time when you try to shoot them crossing trails and small logging roads if you miss the first shot there gone. Most people here use automatics and you still can miss but it kinda levels the playing field. I also rabbit hunt quite a bit and those lil boogers haul arse pumping unless in a open area isnt a option lol

Skyhigh, you haven't seen someone that knows how to shoot a pump gun shoot. I have shot scrap, and 5 stand with a man that will wear you out with his pump.

There are some that have mastered it I know that but generally speaking the automatic is my preference for my conditions. I find it hard for me when im pumping to keep the bead on a deers nose running 45 mph lol

Son I have killed hundreds of deer in front of a pair of bird dog's. Those hounds crawl compared to bird dog's.
You have no idea what thick country is till you hunt here a 5 foot bush hogged trail was a luxury
You hear those bird dog's you better have the shotgun up and the slack out of the trigger. You just think that auto can out shoot a pump, there is no way in he!! it can out shoot a Model 97 or 12. There is no way they can out shoot a slam fire shotgun.

I have posted this before, this is open woods here. The picture of the thick stuff would just be like looking at a wall.
I have an old Model 97 that I have killed over a hundred deer with, I have no idea how many my dad and grandpa killed with it. Until you have ran deer with pointers you have no idea what fast is, if you hear it barking they are looking at the deer. I have shot a many of one when the deer hit the ground the dog was on top of it. Finest deer dogs we ever used run about a 1/4 mile turn arond come right back to the driver and we would make another drive. We were not looking for a bunch of hammerhead hounds. Those pointers would separate the men from the boy's when it came to shooting. For thirty years our group killed 120 to 150 deer a year in front of pointers that was 30 guys on the lease.
We had it down to a science, every stand for each drive was numbered and you drew a number, and that is were you went. If you left your stand during a drive you were booted off the lease that day no exceptions. The driver had a duck call and each stander had a crow call to communicate with the driver in the thicket, when you heard the cow horn the drive was over. You were to remove the shell from battery and go to the pickup spot. Even if hartford jumped out you had better not shoot if you ever wanted to hunt with us again. You had to have on hunter orange again no exceptions. Shotgun only allowed.

Yea, It is thick I agree but I am gonna have do disagree with you on hound speeds. I am not saying all our dogs here are super fast but we got some pretty fast dogs here. I have believe it or not atleast 1 time a year where my hounds will chase a deer down and catch it. I run walker hounds they will run till there heart busts before giving up on a deer. I am sure your dogs are fast and you shoot your shotgun well I am gonna try to video some kills this upcoming season when we turn out we turn out 60 dogs at a time thats our rule. We hunt alot of cutovers and logging roads and powerlines here.
