Shed hunting and checking game cam pics are two of my favorite things about deer hunting. I've wanted to train a dog to find sheds for a couple years. My buddies always laugh because we will be hog hunting and I come back from a bay or show up at the bay with deer horns all the time. I love it when we burn pastures because it's right before they shed. The deer tend to go to the fresh growth and its easier to find them with short, green grass.

I've never done it thus don't see the joy of it. What do you do with them after you collect them Brute?
 
That is a lot of sheds. When I opened the thread I thought it would be about a different shed. I usually find a couple sheds a year that have been rolled up in the hay after the cattle eats the hay and usually they will be broken. I don't hunt them.

A lot of times in the high fences or on big ranches you find a ton of them in the yards by the house or around the barns. People usually keep them mowed and may even have sprinklers going so the deer flock to those spots and end up dropping horns.

My buddies that live out on these place always complain because they have to pick up horns just to mowe the yard when it's that time of year.

Hay!! Your mother does some beautiful work. I love that stuff!! Tell her Farmer girl said its beautiful just like her. 😊 And I'm sure she is!! I maybe weird but I see beauty in many things. I enjoy elder people they are so wonderful. I must have an old soul.

Dogs drug this one in last week, but I wish they hadn't gnawed the tip. Most of the ones I find on my own are already sun bleached white and pretty chewed up by squirrels or field rats.
