serviced versus open

If you're interested in a cow-calf pair at a registered sale, would it make a difference if the cow is serviced as opposed to open. What if it's to a bull you wouldn't use?

I use 'serviced' here as bred, but not far enough along to be called safe in calf.
 
I want her either bred or open. I've passed on a number of good cows over the years based on the bull they had been "exposed" to. If they were confirmed bred to him we would have passed anyway.

Depends on the time of year, and when she would be due to calve, and of course what bull she was bred to. We have passed on cattle due to calving date, and to the bull they were bred to.

Around here, they would say "exposed". She was in a lot with a bull. No guarantee of a calf. Buy her assuming open, because no one is guaranteeing anything else.
 
Last year I bought a bred cow not so much for the cow, but for the bull she was bred to. It turned out a great looking bullcalf, but with a defective scrotum...big dissappointment!

I also prefer either safe in calf to a bull I like or open so I can breed her in my timeframe to my choice of bull.
