Wife retiring from her town employment today. Now I'll have to deal with her 24/7/365. And even worse, she'll have to put up with me the same

Congratulations to her. I am looking forward to one year, two months and four days from now when I can do the same thing. My bride claims that in one year, two months and three days she is going to have a full time job so she won't be there to watch over me.

dun ----------congrats to your wife!

I think the two of you will find your way. ;-) It'll be just fine!

Now y'all can take that great big vacation you've been planning, you know, the one to visit the Antarctic. :hide:

We're both having a vacation in March. She's going to hawaii with her sister and BIL and I'm staying on tyhe farm.
I guess I'm going to be spending a lot more time out in the shop, probably starting tomorrow

A friend of ours, when he retired, he outfitted his little shop-shed with a tiny woddstove and he's out there most of the winter.

I'm amazed at how many people buy his hand-made birdhouses and birdfeeders. I didn't think there were that many birds in our state! :lol2:

I've got a heater in it but it's too big to really do more then get the chill off when the temp is in 30s or below. But I have been known to set up a chair infront of the heater and read for hours at a time.

I'm happy for her. When my father-in-law retired from his job (where he had quite a few people under him) he had a lot of time on his hands so he started watching how my mother-in-law was doing things around the house and started offering "suggestions" about how she could do them more efficiently. You can imagine how well that advice was received. :)

Sorry, Dun. I know the feeling. My wife and I have spent more time together during and since the move and I can tell you that to much quality time together is hard on a marriage.

Tell her that Dustin and Kash said congrats!!! I remember your ridge and Windyridge is very fitting. It was cold and windy that day. Kash is still plinking with 22.

Retirement is a big deal. You look forward to it for so many years and when it finally comes you find yourself kinda lost. Then, gradually, things start to pop up that needs to be tended to then you wonder how you will get it all done. Wife has been sweating out "retirement" for several months now and one of her old bosses asked her to come work for him at a new company. Now she's really caught between a rock and the proverbial hard spot. If she leaves on her own she gets nothing. If she gets "laid off" she gets a nice package. I told her to have a heart to heart with her current boss and see if they couldn't work something out.

Tell her best wishes from Judy and I and that it will work out - trust me.

Glad to hear he's still enjoying the 22

Congrats to your wife and good luck, Dun! When my husband retired early in '06 he didn't know what to do with himself & I knew that shooting him or becoming a raging alcoholic were not options so we bought the ranch. Life has never been the same but it's better than ever! Does she love the cattle as much as you?

She doesn;t get as wound up with them as I do. But she worries and frets about them. Loves calving season. She does work right along side of me with most projects around here.
She had planned on retiring 5 years ago but the company she was working for had just taken on a new project and she promised them she would stay till it was completed. Just wrapped it up so she bailed

Now it makes sense why you are updating your woodworking tools!! Congrats and with her extra time around the farm she can give you more pointers on how to manage the cattle better  ...lol

Dun...you have always helped so many on this board and although I don't post often always try to learn from your posts...Best to you and yours!! :tiphat:

That is good news. My parents have been retired for close to 15 years. They stay busy everyday, and enjoy it immensely. I retire in 4 years.

On my list, to enlarge my shop a little and install a wood heater in it--not that it gets all that cold here, but having lived with central heat in this house for years now, (and it is warm all right), but I have come to realize I miss the warmth that sitting in front a gas or wood heater puts out. There's just a difference and I can't explain it to my wife for nuthin.
Congrats on the upcoming retirement!!
