Hello friends,
We got a dozen calves on 4 nurse cows and are getting ready to wean them in a few weeks. The calves are from 45-60 days old now and are doing great. It took a week or so of hobbling but the cows all claim their calves. They are out on pasture with the cows, who are getting about 7 lbs of 18% corn/bean meal/mollasses mix per day. Calves have had access to calf-starter in a small creep feeder but don't seem to be eating that much of it. They seem more interested in the cow's ground corn than the starter. Just wondering what to do with these guys after I get them weaned. I'm hoping to turn 3 sets of calves on these cows this year.
Thank you.
