Hi. I just sold a purebred black angus grassfed heifer to a local guy, it was butchered in my 5 acre pasture. She was born in May 2007. The butcher said her weight after 12 days of hanging will be about 700 lbs. I sold her for $3 per lb, and the purchaser is going to pay the kill fee ($75) and cut/wrap fee ($0.57/lb). I think I got a good price, the butcher told me privately "there's a sucker born every minute" when I told him I got this guy to pay $3. An angus farm up north charges $3 so I figured I'd get the same. There are very, very few farms around here so I have little competition. Did I get a great price?
