What's y'all's experience with putting Sea Foam in engines? Guy that works for me swears by it, but everything he owns is either demolished or on its last leg. And as always I'm a little apprehensive.
 
I'm not a mechanic by no means so bear that in mind.
I sell a crap ton of it.
People swear by it and almost like a cult type following, but I've heard in older engines it can looses up carbon and other things and cause problems.
 
It works.

I have a partnership with a fella restoring older cars and he uses it all the time on them. They will smoke a spell so be forewarned.
 
What's wrong with the engine? I use to clean fuel injectors by feeding it through the vacuum line till the engine chokes out. Let it cook for an hour or two and sometimes it works good.

Goes in all my stuff from equipment, vehicles and lawn mowers really good stuff does what it says.
 
Nothing's wrong or torn up, he recommended it almost as a "maintenance" type thing. Said it would make anything run real smooth. I just wasn't sure. But I see it on the shelves everywhere so I figured it must not be "bad".

I put it in all my small engines (including the Atv). Good stuff. The older the engine, the better it seems to work. I've never put it in anything else.
 
Used to use it in an old Nissan that I used to drive around, where I used to work. Once we started using it in the old truck, I did notice a difference, it did seem to run a bit better.

We put it in, regularly, like a maintenance type of thing.
 
Don;t dump it in your gas tank. Every bit of crud that may have accumulated over the years in the fuel system will break loose, then it's murder to have to rebuild the carbs, etc.

That is cleaning the crud off the intake valves, it will not clean the internal parts of an injector like that. May help clean a buildup off the external parts. It does work good as a intake cleaner.
 
It's everything from a $16 can of injection system cleaner to $3.95 lawn mower fuel additive...which one are you talking about? Hobby Farmer.

The can I bought is the 16 oz can. Everything I've got is running pretty good right now but we all know how suddenly that can change. If I'm guilty of anything it's "over maintaining". Ok for tractors, diesels, boat engines?
 
Its a detergent. Will help clean deposits. But it is not like waving Gandolf's staff over the engine. :hat:
 
It works about as good as Risolene, Bardahl fuel treatment, STP fuel treatment, Xtreme fuel treament, Mechanic-in-a-bottle, Marvel Mystery Oil fuel additive, Amsoil fuel additive/inj cleaner/cetane boost/etc, etc, MAXX and all the rest, as well as slowly pouring some ATF down the intake.
Best use I ever found for any of it was it's a pretty good hand cleaner in a pinch.
