I have a calf that is just over 48 hours old. I was there when it was born so am sure of how old it is. He was born in the pasture. When I was attempting to band him at 24 hours, he had a bowel movement that was yellow and emitted a bad odor. At 48 hours, he looks fine but I am wondering if he has scours or just the normal situation after getting his colostrum and cleaning out after birth. How quickly can they contract scours? Unless it is transferred to the calf in the uterus, I assume a calf would not have it in the first 24 hours, right?
