Scored on a nice 8pt this afternoon with my bow. I'm hunting the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois. The rutting action went beserk after the rains and storms passed through yesterday morning. I saw 17 deer in one 3 hour sit yesterday. I caught this buck running the thicket edge looking for does. 27 yard shot through both lungs. Went 60 yards before nose diving dead. I will post a pic when I get back. I still have 5 more days of hunting. :cowboy:

Oh you poor soul. Must be terrible, 5 more days of hunting. Well I guess someone has to do it. :cowboy:

5 more days. You lead a tough life. Just think of all the stuff that is going unattended and by the way, was that your cows I saw on the highway? Not that it matters. They seemed to be sticking to the right of way pretty good.

I was feeling sorry for you, key word was.
Congrat's I am glad you finally got one.
Our rut is essential over , we will get another in December on the clean up round.

Scored again this morning. Another 8pt. This time with a slug gun. I got all of the Tennessee rifle season left to add to the quota.

Not the biggest bucks around but I was glad to harvest them. Especially on public land.

Nice job Hoss. Need to try that bulgogi recipe Farmgirl posted on some of the venison.
I don't know much about bulgogi but I do know that the inner tenderloin I cooked up in butter and garlic last night was some of the best I have had. Lightly battered in flour seasoned with garlic, salt and pepper then pan fried in butter till it was just slightly pink inside. Cooked up some sides of sweet tater fries and corn. That is 5 star eating!

Hoss - you need to make some jerky but the SA version, we refer to it as 'biltong' ;-)
I made some once........the pain in the a$$ to make it wasn't worth the taste. I guess if you were doing a whole deer it might make sense.
