I don't eat food from food trailers that sell tacos that are parked at convince stores through out our county, seems like they are increasing in numbers as the Mexican population Increases.i question the sanitary conditions in the trailer and the cooks also.
Also weekly every Tom , Dick and Harry organization is selling sweets, fish , tamales , food plates in parking lots and on corners, lots of times kids are selling the idems, I again wonder what the kitchen looked like where these food idems are made.
I guess it goes back to when I collected electric bills at people's doors and the smells that came through the door when opened. Also when the door was open I could see inside the house and it was a mess.
I will never forget the two houses that had goats living in the house and the floor was covered six inches deep in goat pellets or the house that sold tacos out the front door , I went to the back door where the kitchen was , to check the meter , the outhouse was 10 foot from the door and you could see under the building into the hole, it was a one holer and some people couldn't wait so they just craped on the ground next to the kitchen door. Just some reasons I questions sanitary conditions where food is prepared and sold on street corners.

The cow pusher on the big dairy that I worked for had a second job making tacos. The dairy was an absolute shythole despite being relatively modern and new. That guy would go slop in eight inches of three week old shyt taking cows to the barn(and these are 400 cow pens so there's LOTS of splatter when they move) for eight hours and then go straight to work at the taco truck in the same clothes. That same herd became infected with salmonella during his tenure as executive chef as well and just about everybody on the place got it to some degree including me so there's no telling how many taco truck patrons were infected.

Wife showed me a link from facebook (I think it was) about a kid who worked for Wendys had been crapping in the chili for 2 years! Prepared food scares the shyt out of me. Then you have the folks who get nasty with the food service people while placing their order. That is insanity imo.

They should hang him up by his nuts for a week and then pour sugar on him and put him in a fire ant bed. No excuse for that type of behavior and if more punishment of this nature was implemented you would see a decline in this type of behavior. Just my :2cents:

The health department, comes and inspects concession stands here. Pretty picky when they come to. We don't have any traveling venders, but if we did, they'd be all over them for sure. I'd have figured it'd be that way everywhere.

If you've ever seen any of those restaurant rescue type of programs that should be enough to make you worried about ANY restaurant food.

Also, seems like most food trucks are staffed by the owner, and maybe one hired hand. Restaurants are full of $8/hr kids.

X2. I eat at mom and pop restaurants when I can. Usually the owner is there and the man who living depends on the quality and cleanliness of your food usually does a good job.

We got a little cafe here in Florence called Manos. If the owner ain't there it's closed. He cooks the food himself. If he's sick, tired , or if it's Friday night and the football team has a away game, he's closed. I'll eat there. I can just walk in and they bring me my plate. Already know what I want. Other than that I'm out.

You ever think about where that pimple faced kid at McDonald's hands have been...

While going to rest room you got mice running around your feet or roaches running around you know they got a problem, had that happen to me in Gidding one time.

My mom was a teacher (back when teachers made squat). As a single mom, to make ends meet, she worked summers as a hostess at a posh country club. This was a very ritzy place but she came home with tales of the kitchen that would curdle your blood. (And your stomach).
I read the health department restaurant inspections when they are posted in the paper and am always amazed that there are little holes in the wall that are spotless, and fancy places that are filthy. And vice versa. Not much rhyme or reason to it....and have seen the same lack of a real pattern every place I've ever lived.

Both my wife and mother, think I am obsessive about sanitary conditions involving food, but I have good reason to be that way. I once got some apple cider, from an orchard that didn't pasteurize it. They had the best cider, but one fateful day, the refrigerator went out, and I got a hold of a gallon of it, just a little taste and I knew it was bad. Was terribly sick for a long while, never want to go through anything like that again.
Heard the other day that some firefighters ate barbeque from a trailer/stand set up at a service station parking lot, and they got sick.
I had noticed that the stand hasn't been there for a little while.
